Safety is number one when your pet is in our care. We use a number of tools and practices to be sure we are ahead of the ball when it comes to the health and safety of pets in our care. We update these methods as often as possible.
Losing a dog is the absolute scariest scenario and we take every precaution to make sure that doesn't become a reality. We also do everything we can to ensure a lost dog will be found and returned promptly. We use Bytetags on all dogs who visit at our location and on dogs we walk in their own neighborhood. These tags have a QR code that can be scanned if someone finds the pet. When the code is scanned it brings up information about the dog and contact information to the pet's owner. (We use our contact information; each dog should already have their own tag on as well.) We also use air tags on every dog visiting our location. Air tags send a signal used by iPhones to show the location of the tag, we keep these in light up collar tags during walks and in these low-profile collar air tag holders when they visit our location. We use breakaway collars to hold these items if a dog must be crated to maintain safety while crates. Safety and security are our number one concern.
On walks we use rechargeable light up collars or clip on lights during evening walks to ensure we are visible to cars passing by or even other people walking dogs. We use a waistband leash to allow use of hands without the risk of dropping a conventional leash. We carry a flashlight, dog safe pepper spray and an alarm keychain in case of emergencies where an animal or aggressive dog approaches.
During pet taxi rides we seatbelt dogs with harnesses. It helps maintain safety of the dog and the driver. This practice allows dogs to enjoy open windows without the risk of falling or jumping out and it allows the driver to remain focused on the road. If a harness isn’t available, we put up a divider between the front and back seats and keep window locks on with windows opened to a safe degree.
We know you love your pets, and we love them too! Safety is so important; we are always open to new suggestions to help keep our furry family members safe!
